The Member Representing Abak State Constituency in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and Chairman, House Committee on Health, Hon. (Elder) Udeme Otong, Wednesday December, 23rd, 2020 held a Constituency Briefing as part of his commitment to eradicate poverty among his people.
Setting the tone at the briefing, the Chairman of the function, Rt. Hon.Pst. Ekerette Inyang, who doubles as the Director General of Grace Mandate Campaign Organization and Executive Chairman of Abak Local Government Area, stated that the purpose of the event was to empower the great people of Abak and to appreciate their efforts, in supporting the lawmaker to succeed and also to inaugurate a privately owned Constituency Office built by the lawmaker, which has Computer and Tailoring Departments to train the indigenes of the Area.
In his address, Elder Otong stressed that he is determined to develop and enrich his people in line with the Dakkada Philosophy of the Akwa Ibom State Governor, His Excellency, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, emphasizing that he is poised to transforming the lives of his people.
The Assemblyman also posited that his empowerment packages for the people of his Constituency are topmost in his priority list in order to enable him give back in appreciation of their support and goodwill.
“The empowering my people is paramount to me. Before I leave office, I will ensure I turn many of my Constituents to millionaires through provision of grants and provision of necessary machineries to enable them carter for themselves and family”.
He also appreciated the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, the PDP family and all stakeholders of Abak for the opportunity given him to serve his people, pledging that he will not disappoint the people.
“Let me in a special way thank my leader, Governor Udom Emmanuel, the Peoples Democratic Party and all the stakeholders of Abak for believing in me to represent my people, hence the reason I am empowering my people today.
In his goodwill message at the ceremony, the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, lauded the Abak spokesman for giving back to his people, stressing that he is the kind of leader the people need especially in such a critical time like this.
Represented by his Special Adviser on Bureau of Cooperative and Rural Development, Mrs. Ekemini Umoh, the Governor also in a special way thanked the people for the support given his government and promised to give the people more dividends of democracy.
On his part, the Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey commended the Abak Assemblyman for the timely Constituency Briefing positing that it will alleviate hardship during this trying times.
The Speaker, rated the lawmaker as one of the best who has contributed immensely to the success of the seventh Assembly, maintaining that his wealth of experience in the health sector has also helped the State to term the tide of Covid-19 pandemic, especially in the Assembly as the Chairman House Committee on Health, for always providing them with kits to prevent the spread of the killer disease.
He also appreciated the people of Abak for always voting-in good materials to the Assembly, reflecting on Elder Otong’s predecessor, Hon. Friday Iwok who used to invite them for his Constituency Briefings and appealed to the good people of Abak State Constituency to return Elder Otong for a second term.
On his part, the Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Moses Ekpo who was represented by his PA on Political Affairs, Mr. Ikemesit Ayara, applauded the Abak spokesman and congratulated him for a successful outing.
Also speaking, the Member Representing Abak, Etim Ekpo and Ika Federal Constituency, Elder Aniekan Umanah thanked the lawmaker for giving back to his People and prayed for grace to do more for his people.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Uwem Obot, an indigene of Ediene Clan, Abak LGA who was empowered with a mini-bus, thanked the Abak Representative for changing their stories and prayed for God’s unending blessings for him and his wife.
The event was also graced by too many personalities to include; Rt. Hon. Aniekan Uko, former Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and Member Representing Ibesikpo Asutan State Constituency and his Etim Ekpo and Ika State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Mfon Idung, The Commissioner 1, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Service Commission, Rt. Hon. Friday Iwok, the Vice Chairman of Abak Local Government Area, Hon. Imo Ibokette, Arc. Okon Obot, Councillors, PDP family, Royal fathers, elders, women, youths, students’ amongst others.
